Two years of mixing pink squirrel cocktails for blue-haired seniors at charity fashion shows in New Jersey is enough to make anyone want to take a pay cut to write for a newspaper. That’s how I started.

Just out of college with a degree in advertising copywriting and design—in the middle of a recession—I was waiting tables and tending bar on the wrong side of the Lincoln Tunnel. That was the closest I was coming to a Madison Avenue gig in that economy. But what I really wanted to do was tell stories and write.

I worked my way through newspapers, magazines, television, radio, video, and the web, and I’ve been telling stories ever since—at first for media companies and now for the world’s premier higher education institutions.

Check out my work. I’ve told some great stories. I’m ready to tell yours.
